FRUSTRATED PLOT. WBULD-BE ROBBERS THWARTED. United Press Assn.—Flee. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, Sept. 10. A skilfully arranged plot to hold up a motor-car containing officials who were to pay the -wages of relief workers in the Randwiclc district was foiled by the police, who provided strong escorts. The would-be robbers evidently were alarmed and the payments were duly made without event. A sum of £2OOO was involved. A decoy car was to have been used, but presumably the plotters had been warned that the police were on the alert.

The first detachment of soldiers for the Darwin garrison in North Australia sailed yesterday by the steamer Marella. , ■ A WRESTLING MATCH. SYDNEY, Sept. 10. In a wrestling match at the Leichhardt Stadium J last night Lurich defeated Walter Browning by two falls to nil in hollow fashion.
FIREMEN'S RISKY TASK. United Press Assn. —Elec. Tel. Copyright. SYDNEY, Sept. 10. A motor-lorry crashed through two bowsers at Homebush. The petrol was ignited and the flames immediately encircled the pumps, threatening an explosion of the storage tanks. Firemen had a risky task in extinguishing the fire w/th chemical apparatus.
