WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

WHITEHALL BRANCH. The Whitehall Women’s Institute held its monthly meeting at Mrs Craig’s house on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs Craig presided over an attendance of 16 members. The roll-call was “A Household Hint.” The meeting decided to entertain the 'children of the district during the second week of the holidays. After the business was finished, Mrs Climo gave a demonstration on smo'ckiißg, and Mrs Hull gave one on fancy stitched edgings, both being much appreciated- Mrs Climo exhibited articles suitable for farm use, made from cured cowliides and calfskins; also several thrift articles and a homemade cow-cover. Mrs Climo made 71 of these covers last year.
