The Paris correspondent of the. News Chronicle states that-the French Government has received fresh Information which, It claims, proves Germany’s intention to obtain war aeroplanes, also to rearm. it Is understood that the British and French Governments are examining the question of preparations for rearmament, which It Is alleged are being made in Germany, In contravention of the disarmament clauses ol the Treaty of Versailles. The Trades Union 'Congress ended aggressively with the passing unanimously of a resolution In favour of an immediate boyoott of German goods, 7he congress vehemently condemned German terrorism against Socialism, trades unionism, Jews and pacifists. An impossible position has arisen in South-West Africa owing to German members of the Assembly, who hold British naturalisation papers, contending that they still owe allegiance to. Germany. The Union Government agreed to recognise German as the official language in the mandated territory provided that a bill was passed by the South-West African Assembly, for which purpose the life of the Assembly was extended one year. Naziism has asserted itself in the territory lately and has resulted la unpleasant incidents such as the hauling down of the Union flag. Instructions for that act appear to have been received from overseas. A resolution prohibiting the continuance of Nazi propaganda was carried by the Assembly on July 9. LATER. In addition to the decision throughout Germany to seize Communist hostages for anti-German offences committed by Communists abroad tha Hamburg Nazi leaders are also visiting such sins upon Communists In the concentration camps, for example, solitary confinement, no blankets, and a bread and water diet.
