ALPINE MOTOR TRIALS.

BRITAIN’S STRONG POSITION. TWO WOMEN COMPETITORS. (omnai wireless.) RUGBY, August 3. Four of the soven competitors who have lost no marks so far in the international Alpine motor trial are British entrants, namely, two Rileys, one M. 0., one Fraser-Nash. A Riley is leading. 'lt is of the nine horse-power class and the M.G. Magna is of the 12 horse-power class. Of f2l starters, 101 cars remain in the trial. The leading position for the women’s prize at present is held by Miss Champncy, driving a Riley. The only other woman competitor whose chances arc considered to be good is Mrs Gough, in a Singer. To-day’s test on the road from Turin to Grenoble includes the passage over Oalailier. which is considered the most dillieult ol the mountain passes iu the whole trial.
