DIESEL RAIL BUS.

IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT. HIGH SPEED AT LOW COST. RUGBY, Aug. 3. A new streamlined Diesel electric rail-bus, built by Armstrong Whitworth, to make possible rail travel at high speed and low cost over short distances, was on show in London today. It carries its own power and has the advantage of quick starting and stopping without requiring a line to be electrified.

The bus has 60 seats and weighs 174 tons. It can travel at a speed of 70 miles an hour. On a recent test it covered 267 miles at a cost of 4s lid a mile.
