LOCAL UNEMPLOYED.
COMING "OFF WEEK.” APPEAL FOR ASSISTANCE. WAIKATO TIMES FUND. Only a few' days remain before the of Hamilton are confronted with the seriousness of another “off week," during which they receive no relief from the Unemployment Board and have to depend on local bodies and private individuals for any work which they may bo able to obtain. Under half of the men registered as unemployed In Hamilton will be provided with two days’ work eaoh by the Hamilton Borough Council, these being bonu lido residents for over a certain term, but the remaniing 300 will be left to their own devices and the efforts of those organisations which have already helped in past "off weeks" and are beginning to feel the strain through lack of funds. It is to be hoped that many private employers will find it possible to give a large number of men employment during the “off week.” Those who have no work' available can aid by contributing to the Waikato Times Winter Comfort Fund, through which men will be given work.
