WAIPA AND HAMILTON. WIN FOR FORMER. I ■ Teams from Waipa, the Nordern Cup holders, and Hamilton met at Steele Park yesterday in a non-competition match, which resulted in favour of Waipa by two goals to one, after an interesting game. ... The match was full of incident, and the standard of play was very high. Hamilton took the opportunity of trying out some promising colts. Waipa attacked from the bully-off and Spiers, Karl, Wood and G. Finch combined in a good movement for Finch to open the score. Hamilton then found their feet, and attacked strongly, but over eagerness spoilt their chances. The game settled down to a hard tussle, and Hamilton equalised when Kelly scored a fine goal from a penalty corner. After the Interval. The second half Avas played at a fast pace, both sets of forwards making the play open. Waipa went to the front when a hard shot across the circle \yas picked up by B. Spiers, Avho hit the ball hard at the net. The final whistle sounded with the scores: Waipa 2 Hamilton 1 For the Hamilton team, the colts, C. POAver, B. McKenzie, C. Ross, J. Pountney and J. Kilham, all tolled AA'illingly, and their play indicated that they should qualify for representative honours with a little more experience.
