SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
« ROUND THE CORNER.’’ ECONOMIC SITUATION IMPROVED. UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM MET. “The economic situation in the United States is very much improved,” states Mr J. D. Larson, Trade Counsellor to the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, ip. a letter from Los Angeles to a Hamilton resident. Mr Larson was recently in Hamilton as a guest of the Rotary Club. “ There is a spirit of optimism prevailing all over the country, which is being reilected in manufacturing and distribution channels., “We have undoubtedly turned that mythical corner, and business is very much on the up-grade. “ I have just made a careful check of tiie industries and distribution in South.ei’n California, and ilnd a favourable improvement in almost all lines.
The unemployment situation Is well In hand, and I believe that In a comparatively short time the problem will be largely solved.
“As you know, during the winter we always have an influx of men Into Southern California, many of them seeking employment. The problem has been met, however, and conditions are not at all unfavourable. Eoonomlo Conference. “ While to-day’s despatches from the Economic Conference in London are not encouraging, we are hopeful that Great Britain and the United States will continue to go along side by side in the interest of solving some of the Important problems. I assume that it is too much to expect that 04 nations should agree on/ remedies for the present world ills at this time. However, if only limited progress is made now, it may he helpful to future conferences. Wo who think along international lines are at least hoping so."
