METHODIST CHURCH.
PERFORMANCE OF CANTATA. The St John's Church, Hamilton East, was comfortably filled when, after a short service at which Rev. J. Dennis preached, the choir and other helpers, under the direction of Mr Leo. Foster, rendered Maunder’s cantata, “ Penitence, Pardon and Peace." The soloists, Mrs L. Money and Mr Leo. Foster, were heard to great advantage. Special mention should be made of Mrs Money’s rendering of “ O That I Knew Where I Might Find Him," and Mr Foster’s solo, “ Cast Thy Burden Upon the Lord.” The choir was well balanced, and the harmony good. Mrs Storrey afiiy presided at_the organ. Standard Insurance Company.— The annual report of the directors of the Standard Insurance ' Company, Limited, states that the Income from all sources for the year amounts to £177,219. to which has to be added die balance brought forward from last year, £211.980 The surplus on the year’s operations amounts to £36,354. The directors recommend the payment of a dividend at the rate of Is 3d a share and to carry forward to next year the balance of £23,854.
