ANNUAL DANCE.

AT HUNTLY. The Huntly Returned Soldiers’ Association held its annual dance and card evening in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, the function being a pronounced success. The hall presented a gay appearance with its festoons .of coloured streamers and balloons, while 1 the different lighting effects made a pretty setting for the dahcers who thronged the floor, over 350 being present 'from all parts of the district. The Elite Orchestra supplied delightful music and extras were contributed by Mrs F. Brook and Miss F. Brook. Mr F. Wilkinson officiated as M.C.

Many novelty dances were included In the evening’s programme of entertainment, which comprised a mystery waltz, pompom balloon dance, Armistice dance and Monte Carlo waltz. Other attractions were songs, reminiscent of war days, such as “Pack Up Your Troubles," “Long, Long Trail," “Tipperary," which were sung by a number of ex-servicemen, while the orchestra supplied the music to dance time and was greatly enjoyed by the dancers. Songs with tap dances, “She’s a Gorgeous .Thing,”, and "Wanderer" were given 'by Master H. Roberts Euchre and bridge were provided for the non-dancers and were well partonlsed-

The winners were as follows: — Euchre, ladles, Mrs B. Callaghan i, Mrs A. Turton 2; men, Mr E. Tait snr., i, Mr M. Attwood 2. Bridge, ladles, Miss Hobson (Hamilton), men, Mr R. C. D. Lightbourne. Winners of the novelty dances were: Mystery waltz, Miss E. Smith and Mr Davies. Monte 'Carlo waltz, Miss W. Ainscough and Mr M. White; pompom balloon dance, Mesdames R. Dowd and F. Brook.
