PROPOSED FUSION OF CODES. BISHOP’S HUMOROUS REMARKS. “If you were born In Victoria, as I was, you would, perhaps, regard certain elements in the game of Rugby as relics of barbarism,” said the Bishop Co-adjutor of Sydney (Right Rev. S. J. Kirby) at the annual Foundation Day celebrations of Cranbrook School. When the laughter had subsided the Bishop elaborated his point. ‘‘■l have seen just recently that there is a move on toot to amalgamate Rugby with that sterling game they play elsewhere.” he said. “It appears they are trying to replace some of the barbarisms of yoiu ■code with Hie refinements of that great game they play in Victoria. “If Hie efforts for fusion are successful, I lie marriage of the two codes should produce a fine couple capable of resisting all efforts at divorce. “What those men put together let no other men’s jealousies pul asunder.” he concluded amid anolher burst of laughter from the boys.
