RIFLE SHOOTING.

WAIKARE DEFENCE CLUB. The results of the competitions fired during the 1932-33 season were: —■ The oup presented by Mr J. MoGovern, to be fired for annually on Labour Day, against the Territorials, was, at the last Labour Day shoot, won by the Walkare Club, making two wins each sinoe the inauguration of this match. Mr A. East won Mr Newton’s (president) trophy for the highest score made by a member of the club during this match. The competition for the cup presented by Mr C. McGaugrhan, of Uhlnewal, was won by Rifleman J. L. Leslie, with J. McGovern as runnerup. The cup presented annually by Mr E. 11. Todd, of Iluntly, was won by J. McNally, who also won the club’s gold medal for marksmanship, and the gold medal offered by the Farmers Trading Company, Auckland He also wins the cup given by Air P. Lister, of Auckland, and the April shoot for the E. J. Powell cup.

Mr J. McGovern wins the snap trophy for the highest score during classification. This has changed hands fairly often.

Mr J. L. Leslie, besides winning the McGaughran cup for the season, wins the silver medal of the club for highest score in qualification, and also the J.G.M. East trophy for the highest score made at 700 yards.
