CAUSE HIS BANKRUPTCY. GUILTY OF MISAPPROPRIATION. DEFICIENCY OF £llsO. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. “I have pleaded guilty to charges of misappropriating moneys, and as I am unable to repay the amounts taken I am compelled to file a petition in bankruptcy," said Huddart Richards Sampson, a solicitor, when meeting his creditors this morning. Debts totalled £1432, and assets £2BO, including hook debts amounting to £2OO, leaving a deficiency of £llsO. Sampson added that his bankruptcy had been caused hy the criminal action recently taken against him. Counsel for a client who lost money said she would be fully reimbursed by the Law Society’s fund, so the money had really been stolen from the law practitioners of New Zealand. The Assignee said he understood the same Avould apply to other defalcations. It was decided to leave the estate in the hands of the Assignee.
