According to Mr Sloan Morpeth, the secretary of ttio Australian Golf Union, Australian leading amateur golf players could more than hold their own with any of tlie present British amateurs.

This statement arose out of a proposal to invite a team of British amateurs to Australia for the Melbourne Centenary celebration. Mr 'Morpeth added that he was convinced British golf players do not realise the high quality of the amateur golf of this country.
