BANNED BY NAZIS.

WELL-KNOWN OPERA STAR. KNOWN IN NEW ZEALAND. Gltta Alpar, the famous Hungarian soprano, wife of Gustav Frolich, the German film-actor, was banned recently by the Nazis, says a London paper. She went to Sweden and is now singing in the King’s Opera House the title-role of “ Dubarry.” King Gustav has twice patronised her performance.

Gitta Alpar is the singer who was given several benefit concerts in New Zealand, including one in Haimilton, some years ago, when, owing to the sudden death of her first husband, she was left in straitened circumstances with two children to support.
