The •champion Australian raoehorse will remain in California (till .'the latter party of July, when he will he shipped to Seattle 'to make his first appearance in America there early in August. NEW YORK, June 33.
The New York Jockey Club announces that it has received a proposal from the owners of Winooka for a race in September at Belmont Park, New York, against the best available American racehorse. No doubt an effort will be made to match him with Equipoise, the best of the handicap thoroughbreds, who last year set a new record for the mile at lm 34 2-5 s when carrying 9st. 21b. at Arlington Park, Chicago. CANTERBURY PARK CLUB. PROFIT OF £6OO. After allowing £533 for depreciation, the Canterbury Park Trotting Club made a profit of £6OO on the year’s working. The principal receipts were:— Nominations, £547; acceptances, £674; totalisator revenue, £8235; stands and gates, £1212; rent, £1924. The principal payments were:—Stakes, £5622; Government taxes, £6574, less recovered from dividends and owners £3433, leaving £3141; salaries, £505; wages, £428; expenses of race meetings, £1125; Trotting Conference levies, £lB7. The accumulated funds, being the excess of assets over liabilities, are £23,625. WINNER GIVEN AWAY. OAMARU, Saturday. After winning the Uromore Steeplechase at Ashburton, Dan Russell was presented lo Mr J. IT. Selby, huntsman to the Christchurch Hunt. lie is not a sound horse and he may be kept for hunting.
