LONDON WOOL SALES.
TO OPEN TUESDAY. HIGHER PRICES EXPECTED. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from, their London house, dated 27th., instu “ The following vessels in which we are interested arrived in time for the sales opening on July 4: Tekoa, Matakana,’ Mahana, Mataroa, Rangitane, Rangi'tata, Pt. Fremantle, Tainui, Mamari, Kia Ora and Karamea. Our selling dates are; July 4,7, 12, 17, 19, 21. Sales close on July 21. “We anticipate a strong market, with merinos and fine crossbred probably 15 to 20 per cent, higher, good style medium crossbred 20 per cent, higher; other sorts medium and coarse crossbred 15 per cent, higher."
TE AWAMUTU SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report on their Te Awamutu stock sale on Thursday, as follows: S'heep.—The recent improvement in fat ewe and wether values was well maintained, while fat lambs also sold readily up to the latest quotations, exporters operating freely. Fat ewes were in short supply, medium numbers of wethers came forward and lambs again comprised the bulk of the entry, a very large number being yarded. Several large pens of breeding ewes attracted keen bidding and sold well. Good fat wethers, 15s to 17s 9d; medium, 13s 6d to 14s 6d; lighter, 13s to 14s 6d; good ewes, 11s 6d to 13s; medium, 10s 6d to 11s 6d; heavy lambs, 18s 6d to £1 Is 6d; good quality lambs, 16s to 17s 6d; medium, 14s to 15s; light 11s 6d to 13s; 200 5-year breeding ewes, 14s Id; IG4, 14s; smaller lots of aged ewes, up to 14s. Fat cattle. —Medium numbers of fat cattle included a few pens of ox beef. Late rates were recorded for t'hcse, practically everything changing hands. Medium bullocks, £4 7s 6d to £5; prime fat cows and heifers, £3 1,4 s to £4 Is; medium quality, £2 15s to £3 ,10s; lighter, £2 8s to £2 12s 6d; light forward, £1 15s to £2 2s Gd; stores £1 6s to £1 12s.
Dairy cattle. —The advertised lines of I.G. heifers on account of Messrs 11. and S. Rhodes, of Paterangi, and Mr W-. Struthers, of Te Mawhai, attracted a largo crowd of buyers both from local and outside districts. These cattle were a particularly’ fine selection and in /every detail showed the vendors’ keen appreciation for handling only the best, and backed by the recommendation ofi the records of their past years’ offerings, warranted the keen competition displayed. Smaller offerings from other vendors made late rates. Best Jersey heifers, July oalvers, £7 5s to £8; good, £6 to £7. Practically the entire offering sold between £5 15s to £7 10s. pigs.—There was a full yarding of pigs, stores and weaners being in the majority. Fat pigs sold at a trifle below Frankton late rates, While lighter classes for .which there was more competition realised good prices. Heavy baooners made £1 18s to £2 3s; light baconers and heavy porkers, £1 10s to £1 15s; medium porkers, £1 5s to £1 8s; light, 18s to £1 2s; good stores, 14s to 16s; slips 10s to 12s. weaners. 5s to Bs.
