MISHAP TO EXPRESS.
OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. While the night express from Invercargill to Christchurch was travelling at a high speed between Dromore and Chert-sey the driving rod of Die engine broke. No damage was done to the track and Die driver was able to carry on with the same engine. The train however, reached Christchurch 90 minutes late. Officials say that the feat of bringing the heavy express to Christchurch with a damaged engine was an outstanding achievement.
