THE AUCKLAND MARKETS. BUSINESS QUIETENS DOWN. (By Telegraph.—special to Tiroes.) AUCKLAND, Tuesday. Business on the Stock Exchange has quietened down considerably, and only a few sales have been finalised over the past 24 hours. Government stocks are still in request, but buyers for 4 per cents have dropped their offers to par. Three and a-lialf per cent, slocks arc still wanted at £99 10s. At this mornins’s call 4 per cent, bonds were on offer at £IOO 10s, and stock at 5s less.
There were few changes in the bank and insurance sections. Holders of Bank of New Zealand shares raised their limits to £2 5s 9d. National Mortgage Agency shares were asked for at £1 17s. Breweries were steady, with buyers at £1 9s. Byeroft’s were again in demand at £1 15s, holders asking £1 16s. Buyers were in again for New Zealand Newspapors, offering £1 3s 6d ex dividend. The Noon Call.
Some improvement was shown at the noon call, when seven sales were put through.
Bank of New Zealands continued to sell steadily without change in value.
Auckland Gas recorded an advance of a penny. Further shares were available.
Colonial Sugars rose again to last week’s peak price. Kempthorne-Prossers made a slight rise, maintaining Die recent upward tendency.
