The first match In the Black and White Cup competition was played on the Ngaruawahia links during the week-end, when the home team defeated Waikare by 6 games to five, one game being halved. The following were the results (Ngaruawahia names mentioned first): Miss Clavis beat Miss Burgess, -4 and 3; Mrs Avey beat Mrs Pulham, 5 and 3; Mrs Isdale lost to Miss Gordon, 2 down; Miss Waring beat Miss Batty, 2 up; D. Jackson beat Lloyd, 3 and 2; Wilson and Eccles, all square; Tapper lost to Firth, 7 and 5; T, Jackson lost to Souter, 2 and 1< Galbraith lost to Harkness, 2 and 1; Marriott lost to Gordon, 2 down; Waring beat Stewart, 1 up; Darrow beat Forrest, 4 and 2.

In an 18-hole medal handicap on Saturday the best cards returned were:—W. MoGruer, 94—24 —70; D. Jackson, 82 —9—73; T. Jackson, 91—16—75.

AUCKLAND, Tuesday,

Members of the Manulcau and Papakura Golf Clubs met In the first round of the Franklin Golf Association's challenge cup competition, the former winning by 4 matches to 2. HUNTLY* CLUB. THE CAPTAIN'S TROPHY. The second round of 18 holes for the captain’s trophy was played by members of the Iluntly Golf Club on the links at Ohlnewai. Orpwood won the trophy with a net score of 139 for the two rounds.

Following were the cards handed in:—Daly, 89, 21—G8; Grocott, 89, 16 —73; Fry, 82, 9—73; J. W. Shaw, 109, 36—73; Orpwood, 111, 36 —75; F A. Shaw, 95, 20 —75; Wilson, 112, 36—76. Smith, 98, 21 —77. THE . ANNUAL MEETING

At the annual meeting of the Waiterlmu Golf Club there was a large attendance.

The following officers were elected: Mr F. Begbie, president; Mr S. W. lies, hon. secretary. The opening of the new links was held last Saturday, when there was a large attendance of players and visitors present.
