HOCKEY REFEREES

NEW ZEALAND ABBOOIATION. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. WELLINGTON,. Friday, ~, The annual meeting of the New Zealand Hookey Referees’s Association was held last night. It was agreed to co-operate with the Australian Association with a view to seourlng a uniform interpretation of the rules, the interpretations to be based on Major Rickett’s manual. The report of the Interpretations Committee on the new rules was received and copies will be forwarded to associations.

In connection with the practical examinations six examiners were .appointed, and it was proposed to add to the number in order to deal with 87 referees who have passed the theoretical examination and are awaiting the practical test to pass the “A" grade. During the year, the report stated, 18 referees had been examined for practical work, and four were successful; 58 sat for the theory test and 38 passed. The following officers were eleoted: President, Mr Cordery (Southland); vice-presidents, Messrs Saunders (Taranaki) and Holland (Chris tohurch); seoretary and treasurer, Mr H. F. Bollard; Management Committee, Messrs Barton Ginger and Falconer Smith (Wellington); auditor, Mr Butcher; Examination Board, Messrs Williams (Auckland), Wilson (Manawatu), Soott and Smith (Wellington), Holland (Christchurch), Sew Hoy (Otago); Interpretation Committee, Messrs Norton (Auokland), Soott (Wellington) and Holland (Christchurch).
