COMBINED BULL SALE.
DATE IN SEPTEMBER FIXED. SALE OF TESTED ANIMALS. Arrangements relative to the 18th. annual sale of pedigree bulls was the principal topic discussed at a meeting of the executive of the Combined,-A Breeders’ and Auctioneers’ Association this morning. Mr A. H. Clements presided. The date was fixed for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, September 20, 21 and 22. Entries will close on Saturday, July 1. A suggestion by Mr J. J. Goodwin that tesled bulls should be sold on a special day was fully discussed. Mr Hodgson, in support of the. proposal, appealed for a tightening up of too standard of the sale. He considered that such a move would be on the right lines.and should apply to all breeds. On tile other hand It was considered that this would be an unfair step in the interests of backblock settlers, who were, perhaps, unable to obtain test records.
After several motions embracing Mr Goodwin’s views had been unsuccessfully tabled, Mr W. Livingstone moved that all bulls whose certified dams hav» a certified record of over 3001 b, irrespective of age, be offered first. The motion was carried. It was further resolved that no further cattle from new vendors outside the South Auckland district will be accepted.
