BADMINTON.
BRIGHT EXHIBITION. TITLE HOLDERS COMPETE. Badminton of a very high standard was witnessed by a large and interested crowd at the Hamilton Badminton Club's courts last evening, when G. Martin (Auckland) and Rishwcrth (Wellington) gave an exhibition of the game. Martin Is holder of the New Zealand singles championship and Rishworth holds the North Island title, Martin was successful.
Local players then took part and some close matches eventuated. In the men’s doubles Dempster and Martin just defeated R. Fear and Rishworth in a good set. Another dose set was that between Dr. G. W. Gower, Rishworth, H. Fow and Martin, the latter pair winning on the odd point. Martin and Mrs Fow were too -strong for Rishworth and Miss Fear. Mr and Mrs H. F-ow were In good form to beat Martin and Miss Fear. Martin easily accounted for Mr Fow In a -set of -singles, defeating him 21-—'s.' Following were the results:—• Doubles, Martin and Dempster 15 v. Rishworth and Fear, 13; Martin and H. Fow 17 v. Rishworth and Dr. Gower 16; Martin and Mrs Fow 15 v. Rishworth and Miss Fear 7; Mr and Mrs Fow 15 v. Martin and Miss Fear 10. Singles: Martin beat Rishworth 15 —5, 15 —8; Martin beat Fow 21 —5.
