Bodyline Bowling.—A well-known Sydney sportsman, writing to a friend in Dunedin, has this to say regarding the much-debated question of hodyline howling:—“The paragraph In your letter regarding Australian cricket is read with great interest, especially the phrase ‘Australia seems to he very much better, except at cricket.’ The trouble is England is very much better at cricket, especially .In bowling. My opinion Is that they are a better-balanced side at batting, bowling, and fielding, and f congratulate the victors. They came out here to win the Ashes, and have done so, not through good luck, but by superior play, and every Australian sportsman Is prepared to acknowledge tt. Of course, we have a number of squealers, but they do not count for much in the land of the real sportsmen. Tell all my New Zealand friends we were defeated on our laurels and that Larwood had a very demoralising effect on the whole team, not excluding Don Bradman.’*
