ROME, May 13
An armed force, comprising police and militia formed a ring round the Fascist stadium hours before the Association football match between English and Italian teams commenced in order to prevent the gates being rushed by the immense orowd. Tremendous interest was manifested in the match and 50,000 people were present. A band played a Fascist hymn when Signor Mussolini arrived. He stood for some minutes with his arm outstretched in salute, and turning from side to side in recognition of his great welcome. Sir Ronald Graham, British Ambsasador, and Lady Graham sat beside Signor Mussolini during the match. The game, which resulted in a draw, with one goal each, was a dingdong struggle but both sides finished poorly, the Italians missing four excellent chances.
