OLD WOMAN’S ESCAPE.

(By Telegraph.—press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday

A five-roomed house at Marshland, owned by Mr Ernest Crozler, was destroyed by fire at 11 p.m. yesterday. The only occupant, Mrs M. Crozier (74), the mother of the owner, had difficulty in making her escape. She was crawling out on her hands and knees when a bey, named Jackson, living in a whare nearby, noticed her plight and went to her assistance. The fire is believed to he of incendiary origin as a suspicious fire occurred the previous Sunday' on .the same farm destroying a cowished, garage and hayistack. The owner was absent at the time.
