Wednesday 77.0 53.0 Thursday 73.0 41.0 The barometer has risen rapidly since last reading, and is steady at 30.20. Expect line weather to-day and to-morrow, with seasonable temperature, brisk winds from a south-westerly direction. Mean temperature 57 degrees. SOUTH AUCKLAND AREA. special forecast. (By Govt. Meterolcgist.) The special forecast by the Government meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley area is a follows : Forecast: Fresh but decreasing southerly winds. Weather fine and cold with many frosts. Seas moderate. General Inference: An intense anti-cyclone is now centred over the Tasman Sea, its eastern side extending over New Zealand. After a prolonged spell-of high pres-; ■sure barometers are now falling over eastern Australia. THE RAINFALL. (Recorded at Ruakura.) Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9.30 this morning, .071ns.
