The special forecast by the Government meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley area is a follows : Forecast: Strong southerly winds to gales. Weather cold and squally with further rain 'heavy in places, seas rough. General Inference: A very deep depression crossed the Dominion last night, and a •cyclone lias since developed in it, its centre being east of the North Island. This mornjng pressure is * very high over eastern Australia. THE RAINFALL. (Recorded at Ruakura.) Rainfall for 24 hours ended 9.30 this morning, .54ins. Rainfall for previous 24 nours .45ins. Total for April 3.35in5. Rainfall for year to dale, 14.86in5.
