MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
CONTEST AT'NAPIER. COMMISSIONER TO CEASE WORK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NAPIER, Friday. Following the decision of the Government that the commission in control of Napier ceases next month an election will be held as previously. For the mayoralty, Mr J. Vigor Brown, the sitting Mayor, is opposed by Mr C. Morse, chairman of the Earthquake Relief Committee. There are 24 candidates for 12 seats on the council. RETURNED UNOPPOSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) MARTON, Friday. Mr F. Purnell was elected unopposed for the seventh term as Mayor. The sitting councillors were elected unopposed. ELTHAM, Friday. Mr Ira J. Bridger has been reelected unopposed as Mayor of Eltham for the fifth successive term. AT INVERCARGILL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, Friday. There were two nominations for the Mayoralty, Mr John Miller, the present Mayor, and Mr J. D. Campbell, ex-Mayor. Twenty-four nominations have been received for council. BLENHEIM. Mr M. McKenzie (silting) has been relumed unopposed ns .Mayor. There are ten candidates for the nine seals on the council, four candidates for three seals on the Hospital Board, three for the. Power Board (only two are required), and four for the Harbour Board (four required).
