MISSING TRAMPERS.
BEEN OUT SIX DAYS.
LOST IN TARARUA RANGEB. THREE MEN AND A WOMAN, (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N„ Friday. Concern Is felt for the safety of four trampers who set out to cross the Tararua Ranges last Saturday and have not since been heard of. The members are Miss M. Williams (Wanganui), Dr. W. B. Sut-ch (Palmerston North), Messrs E. Hill (Palmerston North) and B. O’Keefe (Wellington). They left with the Intention iof penetrating into the ranges by the Ohau River towards Mount Holdsworth, and expected to come out on the Masterton side on Sunday or Monday.
They have now been six days out. The weather has been very unfavourable.
It is recalled that Mr O’Keefe had a trying ordeal a few weeks ago, when he became separated from his companions, who comprised practically the same party as the present one, during a mist which 'came up suddenly on Mount Bannister. He eventually reached the Masterton side after several days and nights in the open.
