DEFICIT AT AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, Friday. The Auckland City Council closes the financial year 1932-33 with a deficit of £18,500. The council budgeted last year for a deficiency of £9500, tills figure Including all accounts except water. Discussing the result the Mayor said that considering present economic conditions it could be regarded as highly satisfactory. The discrepancy of about £9OOO was accounted for by circumstances which could not be foreseen at the time the estimates were drawn up. SURPLUS AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. A surplus of £13,000 is shown in the City Council accounts for the year ended March 31, against £B3OB for the previous year. The works department expenditure was £3OOO below' the estimate.
