CAMBRIDGE TOURNAMENT HAMILTON WIN RINKS FINAL. A GREAT EXHIBITION. CAMBRIDGE, Friday. The rinks series In the Cambridge Bowling Club’s Easter tournament reached 'finality yesterday, when W. ’Pomeroy, W. Robinson, S. R. Hawken and R. N. Pilkington (s) (Hamilton), defeated J. Casey, E. Dingle, W. Luscombe, and J. -Lobb (s), (West End, New Plymouth), in one of Un most exciting and hard-fought game; ■ever witnessed on the Cambridge green. The Hamilton rink won by onpoint with the scores 22 — 21. The first head opened with accur ate drawing -and when the thirds ha played Lobb was 3 up. Lobb dre\ another and Pilkington failed with fas •shots. Lobb 4. On the second liea New Plymouth again outdrew Hamil ton. all playing good drawing bowl; 12 being within a yard of the jack Pilkington killed the head with hi . last bowl. Pomeroy and Hawken were lying in the count when the skips went to play to an awkward head. Pilkington played a hard shot and knocked a New Plymouth bowl into shO't. Lobb 14, Pilkington 9. Pomeroy’s Good Drawing. At the 15tli Pomeroy drew both bowls to inohes of the jaok. Dingle ran one shot off, Robinson drawing another. Luscombe drove and wicked one off, Hawken rolling another Into Its plaoe. Luscombe drew the shot with Ills second, Pilkington played a narrow shot, but went between the shot bowl and the jack. Pomeroy was now playing belter bowls and beat Casey, but Dingle drew a counter. Pilldnglon played a running shot and rested the shot howl out for 3. Lobb ran a yard over and failed to save. Pilkington 17, Lobb 17, on the 17th head. The Hamilton team were playing with more cohildence, the lead and seoond drawing counters till Luscombe drew Inside. Hawken rested the shot bowl for one. Pilkington drew another with his first and blocked the draw with his second. Lobb played ills first drive of Hie game, but failed. Pilkington 19, Lobb 17. Hamilton's Position Improved. On the 19th head Casey drew a jack-high shot, Dingle adding two ■more. Hawken drove, removing one shot. Pilkington sent an accurate drive and carried the jack to the ditch, Iho howl rebounding off the bank on

to' the edge of the green. Lobb was left with a foot to draw the shot but failed with both bowls. Pllkington drew his second to the edge of the ditch to score two shots. Pilkington 21, Lcbb 17. Casey drew fwo shots on the 20th head, Pomeroy overrunning a yard. Dingle added another. Hawken played a good shot, but wicked the jack to the already counting bowls. Pilkington played for a trail for four but missed by inches. Lobb played a good block, but Pllkington drove and killed the head. On the replay Pomeroy drew, but Casey claimed the shot with an accurate draw. Luscombe added another with his first and rested out Pomeroy’s bowl with his second for four shots. Pllkington drove with his first, but went wide. He drew with his second but fell short, Lobb also failed to add to his score. Lobb 21, Pllkington 21On the final head Pomeroy beat Casey, Robinson drawing the absolute. Luscombe drew up against the shot jowl. At the close of play Mr T. H. Boyce resident of the Cambridge 'Club precnled the trophies to the winners and unners up. final pairs. CARTER AND FRUISH WIN. , The final of the pairs tournament vas decided between Carter and Tuish (s) (Claudelands) and Rogers md Blewden (Ngaruawahia) yesterlay afternoon. After a very even ;ame Carter and Fruish won by 18 point to 14. In the early stages Blewden mainlined the lead with consistent drawing, but Fruish was driving with success and the score was 14 all at the 18fh head. Blewden wanted 3 to tie on the last head and was lying the necessary shots when Fruish saved with his last ball. PROGRESSIVE FOURS. PLAY AT CLAIUD ELANDS. CONCLUSION OF SEASON. Tile curtain will be drawn on bowling this season, so far as the Claudelands club is concerned, with a progressive fours competition on the home green to-morrow. Play will commence at 1.30 p.m. and with a good entry of players the event should provide a fitting finale to a successful season. HAMILTON EASY CLUB.
