AVONDALE MEETING. FIELDS FOR TO-MORROW. REVIEW OF THE PROSPECTS. The Avondale Jockey Club’s Autumn meeting will be introduced to-morrow and the quality of the fields engaged •should ensure an interesting programme. Following are the fields engaged with a review of the prospects by “Martian”:— 11.39. ROSEBANIv HANDICAP.

The issue here is an open one with ample material available to upset popular ■ calculations. Darma, on Rotorua form, should be capable of an improved showing and his Ellerslie outing should serve to sharpen him up for to-morrow’s engagement. Golden Sceptre went a good race at Pukekohe and must be respected,' while Sir Val’s promising track preparation is indication of his opportunity to turn the tables in the moderate company offering. Diversion, Toplight, Golden Spalii and Marchette are possibilities. Selections will take a wide range, but when the machines close those to command most attention may be—: SIR VAL DARMA GOLDEN SPAHI. „ 12.25. AVONDALE lIIGH-WEIGHT HANDICAP.

Several well-performed candidates are included here and an interesting race should eventuate. Kiltowyn, despite his big rise in weight, should prove a lough proposition to head off. High Commissioner, the local representative, is in fine nick at present and the quality of his preparation is Indicative of his prospects to-hiorrow. Free Air’s consistency gives her undeniable chances, while Glenliaupo, on Takapuna form, should give a solid account of herself. Courthaven, ii caught in‘the mood, is capable of a surprise. The public may favour the prospects of— KILTOWYN FREE AIR HIGH COMMISSIONER. 1.10. OAKLEY HANDICAP. Of £120; two-year-olds; 6 fur. -st. in. st. lb.

The two-year-old event has filled disappointingly. Rereatu has Takapuna and Auckland form to indicate a line on his prospects. Coronis was in the money at the Rotorua gathering and was running on well at Ellerslie, while Gold Pocket will have Paeroa form to claim him a following. He ilnlshed close up in his Ellerslie outing. Rapper recorded a useful' third over thd distance at Ellerslie anil should be among the favoured division here. Cherry King is a possibility, but the chief fancies will probably Include— REREATU RAPPER GOLD POCKET. 1.55. ruLEY MEMORIAL HANDICAP. Of £250; 14 miles.

Auckland running would indicate the superiority of Master Brierly, but he Is reported as an unlikely starter. Merry Damon and Royal Artist were not impressive In their Ellerslie engagements and Valroe’s form, at the meeting did little to indicate that he could make amends at Avondale. L’Allegro was short of a race at the

recent Auckland gathering and may be in better condition to give an improved account of his capabilities tomorrow. Alloy’s recent consistency should ensure him a host of supporters, while Psychologist and Ornamental read best of the .remainder Favouritism, in the absence of Master Brierly, may lie between-—. ALLOY L’ALLEGRO ROYAL ARTIST. ■ 2.40. WHAU HANDICAP. Of £150; 7 fur.

It is a small field yet the material available is capable of providing an interesting tussle. Chief Cook has pride of place and his recent racing has served to sharpen him up considerably. Jonathan will probably be favourite. His Impressive show-, ing against Silver Scorn in the G.N. St. Leger should see him in the firing line. Pr'olyxo is in great fettle now and her Ellerslie running wall enhance her prospects. Teels and Limex are capable of seeing, out a solid seven. The public may incline towards the chances of— JONATHAN PROLYXO CHIEF COOK. 3.25. CHEVALIER HANDICAP. Of £110; 1 mile.

There are some fair milers here. Don’t Lap showed out prominently at Te Rapa, while Currajong, on Paeroa running, is capable of effecting a surprise. Landlubber won at Pukekohe and Wee Musk sprang a surprise over six furlongs at the same fixture. Talyoon’s unreliable barrier manners do not add to. his prospects. Roman Mascot would only need to repeat the promise he showed at Takapuna early in the year to be a force to be reckoned with. Gigantic, Searcher and Master Norval showed out at the Rotorua gathering. When the numbers are up those to he accorded the confidence of the public may he —• GIGANTIC DON’T LAP. LANDLUBBER. 4.10. RAILWAY HANDICAP. Of £200; G fur.

The sprint event should provide an interesting race.- Manawhenua went a solid mile on both days of the Ellerslie fixture and was responsible for a bright six furlong effort at Te Rapa last month. Eager Rose has done her recent racing over a longer journey and the shorter distance tomorrow may not be to her liking. Lordly Knight and Greek Gi'ld cannot be despised, while Tradesman.,, .find Tetrarchate are light-weights • capable of providing strong opposition. Hampton Park won over the distance at Auckland and may be the actual favourite. British Columbia ran prominently at Ellerslie and won over a similar distance (6 furlongs) at Rotorua. The public may sum up for HAMPTON PARK BRITISH COLUMBIA MANAWHENUA.

4.55. TITIRANGI HANDICAP. Of £130; i mile.

Several included her® claim engagements earlier In the day. Lady’s Boy, on Paeroa form, should give an honest account of himself and-Alloy, if started here, will be one of the hardest to head off. Chief Joy disappointed at Ellerslie, but his prior Te Aroha form would indicate that he is capable of making amends tomorrow. Limcx is a good proposition if ready, and Desert Star, on tiie way lie finished at Auckland, cannot be lightly discarded. The public, however, may favour primarily the chances of— DESERT STAR LADY’S BOY CHIEF JOY WESTLAND CLUB. EASTER MEETING. (By Telegrapn.—Press Association.) HOKITIKA, Thursday.
