WRAP-AROUND DRESS
A new form of sports dress of the wrap-around order is forecasted in London, which suits equally deck games, the beach and ordinary life on board ship. The more casual are generally low-necked, almost backless, and fastened at the side or back by ties or buttons. In length liin. or 12in. from the ground, they can be easily slipped on or off a bathing suit. They look best when of rough cotton or linen, or light-weight wool. Others, more formal, are of silk, with little jaokets or capes of contrasting material and colour. The new cottons are mostly white and off-white, natural, grey and navy blue. All these colours lend themselves to vivid contrasts. Navy looks well with white and red, grey with yellow, and canary-yellow with tangerine. These drosses have not completely displaced pyjamas and shorts, which are still made in severely tailored styles. ' Favourite materials are grey and white flannels, and heavy white and navy blue linens and silks. The jacket is short and doublebreasted, and the plain or striped tailored shirt is in sharp contrast. Bathing suits of wool jersey or heavy tricot, which suggests handknitting mould the figure closely, and have the merest suggestion of a skirt. White and navy blue, red and dark reddish-brown are all good colours. For motor drives there is the camel hair coat which is light and warm and shows no dust. Such a coat when worn over a tweed-like uncrushablo linen suit or heavy crepe or silk pique dress is suitable for all occasions. It is well also to have a light-weight coat, eilhor of full or “swagger" length, of rough woollen material, white, navy or off-white.
