WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

AT HILLCREST. The ninth meeting of the Hillcrest Women’s Institute was he’d in the Nixon Street Hall on Wednesday, April 12, Mrs Bickerstaff presiding over a large attendance of members and visitors. The motto selected for the afternoon was: “We will do our best.’’

The roll-call, “Any recipe,” resulted in a good variety. The competition, “A Savoury Dish," was won by Mrs Morley, Mrs Goodman being placed second. Members were very interested in a demonstration on wool work given by Mrs Howell. Very little business was done at the sales table, although a good variety of articles was shown. The hostesses for the afternoon, Mesdames Campbell, -LJerke land Goodman, served a dainty tea. The meeting closed with the singing of the Institute song, Mrs Henry being accompanist for the afternoon.
