ACTIVITY UNABATED.
DEVELOPMENT WORK.

Aotlvity In gold mining i-emalns unabated and some useful discoveries have been made in many parts of t’he State. The effervescence has departed frqm the “boom" period, tout some hundreds of prospectors are plodding steadily on. The results achieved at North Arm, an area on the North Coast, 30 miles from the once famous Gympie mines, are regarded as highly promising, and though large scale operations have not yet been attempted, the bullion wton last year was valued at £20,000. The revenue thus derived has enabled the company to carry out development work, opening up encouraging prospects. There are 24 separate and distinct reefs on the field, and options over the whole field have been secured toy a group of Brisbane investors. The plans which It is anticipated will go through shortly involve a capital outlay of £71,000. Not much has been heard lately of Cracow or Mount Goolon, but at both places work is steadily progressing. The gold yield for Queensland in February last was 4365 fine ounces, valued at £18,541, which Is 3384 fine ounces, valued at £14,375, more than for February of last year. The newly •formed Bureau of Industry proposes to make a comprehensive review of the mineral resources of the State with a view to absorbing some of the unemployed. Now high figures have been created by all departments of the Mount Isa Mines. 'During January 75,584 tons of crude ore were milled, compared with 63,000 tons for December, 1932. For the year the mill treated 590,882 tons of crude ore, assaying 5.3 ozs. of silver, 10.5 per cent, lead, and 4.4 per cent zinc.
