THE AUCKLAND MARKETS. FAIR NUMBER OF SALES. (By Telegraph.—Special to Times.) AUCKLAND, Friday. Business Is not as lively as it was earlier in the week, hut a fair number of sales have been recorded on the Stock Exchange. Government Stocks were easier so far as the 54 per cent issue was concerned, and at this morning’s call the best bidders stopped at £97, with a parcel on offer at £9B ss. Four and a-half per cents wore steady, with a buyer at £96 15s. In the banking section Australasias were in demand. Buyevs raised their limits to £9 12s G'd, while £2 3s 9d was offered for New Zealands. Insurances continue very firm, £'3 2s Gd being offered for South British and £2 7s 6d for Now Zealands, but holders of the latter have withdrawn meantime. Kaitangata coal shares were asked for at 17s and Gear Meats had a buyer at £1 ss. For Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ debenture buyers advanced their offer to £G6 10s.

THE NOON CALL. At the noon call the following sales were recorded:— Colonial Sugar, £54 ss. New Zealand Insurance, £2 Bs. War Bonds, 1938, 4 per cent, £97.
