Unemployment. Th 9 Mayor (Mr R. Coulter) presided at the weekly meeting of the Unemployment Committee at Te Aroha. The estimate for the week, providing for 79 men as a wages cost of £164 Os 6d, was approved. It is understood that the amount allocated by the Unemployment Board will be about £BS. Electoral Roll. The number of electors on the main roll for the borough was 1499 and or. the supplementary roll 53. Those struck off on account of death, sale of property or leaving tho district numbered 176, and 249 name? have been added to the new roll, leaving the total number of electors at 1625. Te Aroha Carnival. At a public meeting convened lor the purpose Of holding a carnival at Easter a live days’ programme was drawn up, to he submitted to a fuillier meeting next week. It provides for an aero pageant and ball on the Wednesday, Carnival Daion Thursday, Fire Brigade demonstration on Saturday, combined cliuieti parade on Sunday and athletic spoLts on Monday.
The town will he illuminated every night during the week.
