TE AROHA BOROUGH.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. The Mayor, Mr. R. Coulter, presided it the meeting: of the Te Aroha Borough Council on Wednesday evening. The abattoir manager reported that during January 97 cattle, two calves, •90 sheep and lambs and 19 pigs had been slaughtered, the fees payable by the butchers being £lO2 4s 3d. The assistant-foreman of the municipal quarry reported that 345 yards of metal had been crushed, of which 305 yards were sold. The foreman was away on leave consequent upon fracturing a rib. The Te Aroha-Thames Valley Dairy Company, Limited, was granted permission to erect a gravity roller conveynor to carry butter from the factory to the shipping barge in the Waihou River. Eleotrlo Light Loan. The Local Government Loans’ Board wrote that the application for sanction to the raising of a loan of £3740 for the electric light loan repayment was under consideration. Letters from the Public Trustee relative to the payment of the electric light loan were referred to the legal and finance committee. Ragwort Eradication. The unemployment Commisioner wrote that the work of eradicating ragwort could still be carried on under schemes 4A and 5. . Single men in camp could be employed in the work at the direction of the employing authority. A letter was read from the transport authority, Hamilton, giving particulars of the licenses issued for -uoo u[ ojjij joj Supficl sosnq Jopnii nection with the Te Aroha races. No applications had been received from To Aroha. Accounts totalling £1789 7s 8d were passed for payment. Unpaid Rates. It was decided to levy the 10 per cent, penalty On rates unpaid after March 31.
