NEWSPAPER PROPRIETORS.
THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ROTORUA, Thursday. The annual conference of the New Zealand Newspaper Proprietors’ Association was held to-day, Mr G. W. Earle presiding. The Mayor of Rotorua, Mr T. Jackson, extended a welcome to the deleeatMr’ H. H. Sterling, chairman of the Railway Board, addressed the meeting on railway matters. The conference decided again to make representations to the Government to secure the right to the press of publication of racing dividends. In recognition of their services presentations were made to Mr G. G. Gpdlin, chairman of the labour committee, who is leaving shortly for Sydney, and Mr J. Coombe, who is retiring from the chairmanship of the advertising committee after 12 years’ service. The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr C. W. Earle; general committee, Messrs F. A. Clarke, C. Stanley Smith, A. M. Burns, R. Horton, T. C. List, A. E. Manning and A. MoNicol; advertising, Messrs E. C. Huie, A. D. Seabrook, E. Blundell, Burns, R. B. Bell and R. P. C. C. Cargill; Parliamentary, Messrs L. Blundell, Huie, H. Horton, Sir Cecil Leys, Messrs S. 11. Palmer-Jones and 11. G.
