The weather is fine and sultry for the commencement of me fifth and final test match between England and Australia to-day. Australia won the toss and elected to bat. The teams are:— Australia: W. M. Woodfull (captain), V. Y. Richardson, D. G. Bradman, L. Darling, 11. Ironmonger, S. J. McCabe, W. J. O’Reilly, H. Alexander, L. P. O’Drien, P. K. Lee, ,W. A. Oldfield. England: D. R. Jardine, H. Sutcliffe, W. R. Hammond, H. Larwood, L. G. Ames, H. Verity, M. Leyland, W. Voce, G. 0. Allen, R. E. S. Wyatt, E. Painter. Australia commenced disastrously, Richardson being caught by Jardine off Larwood before a run had been scored. At the time of going to press Australia had lost two wickets for 59 runs.
