YESTERDAY7S RESULTS.

DUNEDIN. Monday. The band contest was continued todav with the following results: — B Flat Bass Solo (own choice). — Only one compelito? came forward for this event, G. Sauer (Waimate Silver Band). He was awarded 80 points and a silver medal. E Flat Bass Solo (own choice). —M. Codyre (Christchurch Municipal Band), 90 points, i; N. Abraham (Timaru Municipal Band), 86 points, 2; J. Avery (Timaru Municipal Band), 85 points, 3.

Quartette (“Mendelssohn”). Westport Municipal Band, 88 points, i; Port Nicholson Silver Band, No. 1, 87 points, 2; Wanganui Garrison Band No. 1, 86 points, 3. Unfortunate Experience. An unfortunate occurrence hap'pened just before the start of the E flat bass championship. W. Hickman (Wanganui Garrison Band), the previous champion, while drawing fo” his place, left his instrument outside, and when he returned after drawing flrst place, found someone had leaned against his instrument, damaging the long valves and rendering it useless. lie had to borrow an instrument from a Westport bandsman, but, naturally, was severely handicapped, lie lllled fourth place. Hymn (own choice). —This competition, held in the evening, proved one of the grealest attractions of the contest. The audience expressed appreciation of the high standard attained •by 19 competing hands in no uncertain manner. Results: —Port Nicholson Silver Band, "Rochdale," 138 points, 1; Nelson Garrison Band, “Nearer, My God to Thee,” 135 points, 2; Woolston Band, “Abide With Me,” 134 J points, 3; St. Kllda Band, “ Nearer, My God to Thee,” and Invercargill Civic Band, “ Nearer, My God to Thee," 134 points (equal), 4.
