TRAFFIC SHOWS DECLINE. HOPE OF REDUCED TOLLS. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received Peb. 21, 10.0 a.m.) LONDON, Feb. 20. Traffic through the Suez Canal in 1932 totalled 28,340,000 tons, a reduction of 5J per cent, compared with 1931. British tonnage declined by 903,000 tons, but was still 55§ per cent, of the total. . 'The Financial Times’ Paris correspondent says that Suez Canal shares are falling heavily owing to the belief that despite the official contradiction the directors are contemplating a reduction in tolls, believing that the I company will otherwise lose indefinitely the greater part of the British traffic. Well-informed London circles believe that with a united front British interests will secure a reduction In a few months.
