WASH-HOUSE ABLAZE
OUTBREAK AT HAMILTON EAST.
SPARKS FROM COPPER THE CAUSE
Sparks from the copper in the wash house at the residence of Mr A. M. St. George, in Grey Street, Hamilton East, were the cause of an outbreak of fire to which the brigade was summoned shortly after one o’clock this afternoon. The sparks ignited the clothing and the building, which adjoined Mr St. George’s house, caught fire. When the brigade arrived the wash house and an outhouse had been gutted, and the flames were licking up the wallpaper in a bedroom. The outbreak was soon undef control, and the damage confined to one room, although the contents of the house were smoked. Mr St. George is the owner and occupier of the premises. The- house was insured In the State Fire Office for £S7O.
