LOCAL OBSERVATIONS. Miss Budd, of Balfour M. Irvine and Webster, Ltd., supplies the following observations of the weather: —• Barometer. Friday 29.95 Saturday .... 30.00 Thermometer. Max. Min. Thursday 85.0 69.0 Friday 80.0 60.0 The barometer reads 30.00 with a rising tendency. Indications are for generally fair weather to-day and probably to-morrow, with occasional showers; winds from a northerly direction, and seasonable temperature. 0.45 points of rain fell during the past 48 'hours. Mean temperature 70 degrees. SOUTH AUCKLAND AREA. SPECIAL FORECAST. (By Govt. Meteorologist.) The special forecast by the Government meteorologist covering the WaikatoThames Valley area is as fol-l lows:— I Forecast: Light to mode-1 rate north-westerly winds,! backing gradually to west! and south. Weather change-1 able, with rain at times, and? in some places thunderstorms.! General Inference: There has been comparatively little, change in the situation since yesterday, but the depression mentioned then is passing slowly to the eastward. The Weather Bureau wires: The indications for 24 hours from 9 .am. this day are for moderate northerly winds, backing by wmst to south. The weather appears likely to be cloudy and unsettled, with rain at times, and electrical disturbances. Barometer has a rising tendency.
