SYDNEY’S FESTIVAL WEEK

AN AUSTRALIAN EVENT. That Sydney’s Inaugural Annual Festival Week next April will be “the biggest and brightest thing of its hind yet attempted In Australia” was the declaration of Sir Samuel Hordern at a meeting of the executive committee of the organising body. This statement was supported by the Lord Mayor of Sydney (Alderman S. Walder, M.L.C.), who dwelt on the fact that the festival, as an annual Australian event, is aimed to benefit the whole of the Commonwealth. A special festival race meeting Is to be held by the Australian Jockey Club; and every sporting body Is participating In the week. A beautiful Venetian Carnival will add to the splendour of the famous harbour. A lloral nageanl and festival on the closing day are being planned.
