“BOUND TO HAPPEN.”
MARRIED WITHOUT WORK.
SEPARATION ORDER GRANTED, “ This is bound to happen when a man marries a girl when he is not in steady employment and when he has no prospects for the future,” said Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court this morning, in granting Mrs. Ethel Josephine Stead a separation order, guardianship of tiie children, and maintenance orders against her husband Ernest James Stead. The maintenance orders are 10s a week for the wife and 2s 6d a week for each of the two children. The evidence showed that the' parties were married in November, 1925, there being two children. The husband had only been in casual emf ployment since his marriage, tiie wife having to go to work on several occasions. Stead has been in the hospital and the sanatorium twice, while Airs. Stead has also been in the hospital. Their married life had not been a happy one, the pair mutually separating several times.
“ One of the worst features of the ease,” His Worship added, “is that ■Stead patronised the races and indulged in liquor while his wife and children were starving. The money he llius spent should have been given to his wife.”
