RECLAMATION WORKS. action by county councils. PUKEKOIIE, Thursday. Means of giving effect to the recommendations of the Waikato River report, submitted to Parliament by I lie Public Works Department before the holidays' adjournment, were discussed at yesterday’s meeting of I lie Franklin County Council. II was pointed out that the council had relief workers engaged clearing willows along i lie Manga la whiri Stream and widening the channel to minimise Hooding of adjoining land. A similar arrangemenl might bo appropriate for carrying out improvement work on Ilio One lea and Wbangape Streams. The chairman, Mr .1. N. Massey, M.P.. was asked lo discuss with the eliahtiien of Hie Waikato and Itaglau Counly Councils Iho question of (lie selling up of a committee of representatives of their councils and the Franklin Council to promote these works.
