The Dublin correspondent of the Times says that for the first time in the election campaign Mr De Valera has declared his policy on the issue of separation from'the British Empire. Speaking at Gahir the President of the Free Slate announced that lie was determined to ask for Ireland’s complete independence—politically and economically. Mr Frank Aiken, Minister of Defence, was even more explicit. It is reported that he remarked to the Dublin correspondent of the Paris newspaper Le Petit Journal: “Ireland will be an independent republic when you come here again. That is the will of the Irish people which will be expressed at the election on January 24."
