STORE SHEEP SALE. AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their weekly store sheep sale at Frankton saleyards on Wednesday, as under: — The yarding was practically a store lamb sale, and the entry was smaller than last year owing, no doubt, to the dry spring, as many lambs were fattened and sent to the freezing works, which usually are sold as stores. Our yarding consisted of over 1500 lambs and 100 store ewes. The lambs were yarded in good saleable condition, and there was a very large attendance of buyers from all parts of the Waikato. Prices generally for better class lambs were from Is to Is 6d above last year’s rates, and every pen was sold at auction under keen competition at the under-mentioned prices. A draft of woolly lambs, ex Mr James Brewerton, Moerangi 8s 2d; smaller, 6s 4d; a draft from Mr E. L. Tucker, forward shorn lambs, 8s 6d (top price of sale); a draft from Mr J. B. Vowles, Moerangi, shorn lambs at 7s 9d and 7s 6d; second draft on account of same vendor, 5s lOd to 6s 3d; on account of Mr J. L. Y. Martyn, Te Mata, a draft of Southdown cross lambs, 7s Id; on account of Mr E. L. Tucker, second draft of shorn wether lambs, 8s; on account of Mr M. Ivatavicli, woolly lambs, 6s; on account of other vendors small shorn lambs from 4s lOd to 5s 6d; small cull lambs, 2s 6d to 3s 9d; store aged ewes, 2s 9d and Is lOd; sound-mouth ewes, 4s to 5s lid.
Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd., report having held their store sheep sale at Frankton on Wednesday, when approximately 1000 store lambs came forward. Competition throughout was keen, and the whole yarding changed hands at very satisfactory prices. They ,quote the following prices:— Woolly wether lambs, from 6s to 6s lOd; well-grown Romney wether lambs, 6s to 7s lOd; good quality mixed sex Southdown cross lambs, 7s 6d to 8s 2d; others from 5s 6d to 6s 6d; small mixed sex Romney lambs, 3s 9d to 4s 3d.
TIRAU STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report having held their Tlrau stock sale on Thursday, when a good yarding of cattle came forward. Cow beef sold at late rates, while second quality and boner cows showed improvement. A good yarding of sheep of all classes was penned, with store lambs again in keen demand. A line of 500 Leicester cross sold at 8s Id. A full yarding of pigs sold at late rates. Quotations: Pigs: Stores, 15s to 17s; slips, 10s to 13s; weaners, 5s to 9s. Sheep: Light fat lambs, 9s to 9s 6d; fat hoggets, Its to 12s 6d; fat ewes, 4s 9d to 5s Id; forward conditioned lambs, 7s 9d to 8s Id; smaller lambs, 3s 7d to 6s Id. Cattle: Light fat cows and heifers, £2 4s to £2 12s; heavy second quality fat cows, 32s to 38s; medium second quality fat cows, 24s to 28s; boner cows, 12s to 21s; fat bulls, heavy, £3 10s to £4; lighter, £2 to £3; dairy cattle, £2 10s to £3.
ADDINGTON MARKET. Values at the Addington market showed little change. The fat lamb and ewe schedule for export improved during the week, and this was reflected in slightly better prices in those sections. Store Sheep.—Stores for the most part comprised lambs. Forward sorts sold better. Values were: Forward mixed sex 9s to 10s 6d, medium 7s 3d to Ss 9d, ordinary 6s to 7s, cull 4s 6d to 5s 9d, 'ordinary halfbred wether lambs 5s 9d to -6s. Fat Lamlvs.- —A total of 4300 was penned. Bcs't brought 4Jd, with 3742’s and seconds to 4d. Best made i6s, prime 13s 6d to 14s 6d, others 9s 6d to 12s 6d.
Fat Sheep.—There was a 'smaller entry and better prices for ewes ruled, with wethers Arm at last week’s rates. Hes't wethers sold at 3Ad and ewes at lid; extra prime heavy wethers to 16s 7d, prime heavy 14s to 15s, medium weight 12s to 13s 6d, ordinary 10s 6d to 11s Gd, light 8s 6d to 10s, show ewes to 15s id, extra prime heavy to 13s 6d, prime heavy 10s to Its 6d, medium weight prime Ss to 9s 6d, ordinary 7s to Bs, light ewes 5s to 6s 9d. Fat Cattle. —ff’here was another heavy entry of 375 head, the quality being mixed. The sale was a hard one, with a further weakening in values for pl*m steers and inferior cows. Prime lieef made 17s 6d to 19s, heavy weight and medium steer Its 6d to 17s, medium cow 11s to 13s, inferior down to Bs, extra prime heavy steers to £9 12s Gd, prime heavy £6 to £8 ss, prime medium weight £4 Ids to £6 ss, ordinary quality £3 5s to £4 10s. light to £3; extra prime heifers to £7 7s 6d, prime £4 to £5 Ids. ordinary £2 :10s to £3 15s. light lo £2, extra prime cows to £7 2s Gd. prime £3 10s to £5, ordinary £2 5s lo £:’, ss, lighl £1 10s to £2.
Fat Pigs.—A medium entry came forward and there was an improved sale for good baconers. Porkers were unchanged. Choppers made 22s Gd lo 48s 6d, baconers 32s 6d to £2 9s (id; average price per lb 3}d lo 3Jd; porkers 10s Gd lo 27s 6d, average price per lb 3Jd to id.
